A 20-year-old Carteret man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Jan. 22 with the attempted murder of his 6-week old infant, authorities said. Ezekiel Crespo, the baby's dad, was with the infant when he suffered facial and head injuries, Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Theodore Nycz said. A 42-year-old Rockaway woman was arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 23 after leaving a child unattended, locked in a vehicle, authorities said. A 77-year-old Howell Township man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 9 on the early morning of Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said. An Asbury Park man was accused of arson and burglary after a fire destroyed a Deal home, authorities said. Nasyr-Alaire Fisher, 20, was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 29, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release. Hoboken Police Officer Dies
The Hoboken Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own. Officer Frank Francolino died at home while off-duty on Saturday, Dec. 28, the department said on X. "We ask all to keep the Francolino family in your thoughts, prayers & hearts. Please respect their privacy as they mourn this unimaginable loss," the statement reads. Trenton Man Dies In Shooting, Investigation Underway: Police
Police were investigating after a man was shot and killed in Trenton, authorities said. Shakeem Lemach Davis of Trenton died in the shooting on Sunday, Dec. 22, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta Marbrey said in a news release. An age wasn't given for Davis. Officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 100 block of South Cook Avenue at around 5:51 p.m. Davis appeared to have been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
