The blue 2016 Subaru Legacy that belonged to Dashand Stokelin of Atlantic City was recovered from the Clam Thorofare, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Friday, Oct. 4.

Investigators said a boater through his sonar noticed something that appeared to be a car under the water. The boater called police and a dive team from the Brigantine Fire Department searched the area the next day.

Divers found the Subaru, which appeared to be underwater "for an extended period of time." State police and Iaconelli Construction removed the car from the water on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Police identified the Subaru as the same one Stokelin drove the day he disappeared. No human remains were found in the car.

Stokelin's family reported him missing on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, one day before Thanksgiving. He was last seen early in the morning on the 200 block of North Carolina Avenue.

Stokelin was 36 years old when he disappeared and would now be 44 years old, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. He was 5-foot-6, between 190 and 200 pounds, and had black hair, brown eyes, and full facial hair.

Stokelin also had two tattoos, a skull outline on his left arm and the name "Marlene" on his right arm. He was believed to be wearing a Cleveland Cavaliers hat, a yellow hoodie, black Levi jeans, and maroon, black, and yellow Huarache Nike Air sneakers.

Anyone with information about Stokelin's disappearance should call Atlantic City police at 609-347-5766 or text an anonymous tip that begins with "ACPD" to 847411 (TIP411).
