Several Westchester County municipalities have some of the lowest property crime and violent crime rates in the state of New York, according to a new report. Authorities are searching for those responsible for breaking into a Northern Westchester coffee shop and damaging property. The break-in happened on Thursday, April 4 at around 11 p.m., when a window was smashed at The Farmer's Grind and Copia in South Salem at 475 Smith Ridge Rd. Just days after Gov. Andrew Cuomo declared a “disaster emergency," due to the rise in gun violence, a new survey shows New Yorkers are just as worried. Background Checks analyzed the most recent FBI crime report and put together this resource, which shows that New York has an overall crime rate at less than half that of the country's. Westchester Police: Golf Club Used To Break Car Window, Steal Property
Westchester County Police detectives are investigating the theft of various items from locked cars after a suspect smashed windows with a golf club in front of a Mount Kisco group home. An employee at the group home reported to county police on Tuesday, Feb. 6, alleging that someone had smashed his car window while it was parked overnight on West Street. Police said that the suspect made off with an iPhone, tools and other items, with the stolen property value estimated at approximately $1,400.
