YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- With his victory last night, Supervisor Michael Grace is looking to continue the progress he feels Yorktown made during his first term.

With 86 percent of precincts reporting, Grace holds a comfortable lead over Nick Bianco in the race for Yorktown town supervisor, 4,006 (55 percent) votes to 3,319 votes (45 percent), Board of Elections officials reported as of early Wednesday morning. Bianco has conceded to Grace.

"It's a very gratifying win," Grace said. "It's an affirmation of where we're going and the direction the town wants to go in."

Grace said residents want to see Yorktown rebuild and continue to make progress.

"It's not about me," Grace said. "It's about the vision of this town and lowering taxes. We are going to keep moving in the right direction and continuing the initiatives we started."

Bianco, a town councilman, said he looks forward to continuing to work with Grace on the town board.

"The people spoke and they spoke loud and clear," Bianco said. "They want Michael Grace and not me. It's very simple.

"I'm always cognizant of what the people want. I have no regrets. I am willing to work for the common good of Yorktown."

Bianco believes Grace road County Executive Robert Astorino's re-election to victories.

"It had nothing to do with local issues," Bianco said. "He rode the coattails of the county executive. It clearly shows that."

Town board remains too close to call. While incumbent Republican Terrence Murphy earned re-election to a second term with 29 percent of the vote, incumbent Democrat Vishnu Patel leads Republican challenger Richard Campanaro by 189 votes.
