Members of the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to a stretch of the parkway shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon following reports of a Honda that had driven off the road and into a tree, with the driver now unconscious.
Fire officials said that upon arrival it was determined that the driver had lost consciousness and was entrapped in the vehicle. Firefighters proceeded to remove the doors and roof of the vehicle and were able to get the driver out. She was then transported to a local hospital by the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association Volunteer Ambulance for treatment and evaluation.
The entire operation lasted less than 15 minutes. The scene has since been cleared and traffic is flowing normally on the Taconic State Parkway.
