Yorktown Applauds Student Achievements

The y?ounger students in the Yorktown School District had the opportunity to see what lies ahead if they continue their scholastic success Monday night, as students of nearly every grade were recognized for the achievements at the Yorktown Board of Education meeting.

 

The meeting, which began at 6 p.m. to allow for the student recognition awards, was held in the Yorktown High School auditorium to accommodate the students, proud family members and friends who filled the auditorium to applaud the recognition of the students from three different schools across the district. 

 

Students from the High School, Middle School and Crompond Intermediate School were recognized in areas such as athletics, the arts, academics and in extra-curricular activities. Yorktown High School valedictorian, Michelle Tomassi, and salutatorian Alex Trestyn were also announced and recognized for their academic achievements.

 

Subsequent to the ceremonies?, the regular school board meeting commenced in which the board moved to permit the creation of the Gwendolyn R. Farrell scholarship fund. The scholarship was created in memory of Farrell, who was a Yorktown High School graduate?, who passed away this March.
