'State Troopers Will Have Zero Tolerance': Crackdown On Impaired, Reckless Driving Underway State Police have just launched a traffic enforcement initiative to crack down on unsafe driving behaviors during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.  The special traffic enforcement period runs from Wednesday, Nov. 27 through Sunday, Dec. 1. “During this Thanksgiving holiday weekend, I encourage all New Yorkers to make safety their top priority," Superintendent Keith M. Yonkers Man Among Nine Charged In Sobriety Checkpoint Nine motorists were charged during a sobriety checkpoint conducted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Poughkeepsie Police Department. On Sunday, Nov. 4, police conducted the checkpoint, which was funded by the Governors Traffic Safety Committee and the New York State STOP-DWI Foundation.
