Shuttle Service For New Tappan Zee Bridge Path To Resume Between Westchester, Rockland
A free weekend shuttle bus servicing a popular pedestrian and cycling path on the new Tappan Zee Bridge between Westchester and Rockland counties is set to resume operation. The Hudson Link free weekend shuttle bus for the shared-use path on the new Tappan Zee Bridge will restart service on Saturday, May 25, and continue each weekend through Sunday, Oct. 27, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Friday, May 24. Officials Take Step Toward Bike Path Between North, South Country Trail, New TZB In Westchester
Town officials have applied for a grant that would help fund efforts toward creating a bicycle and pedestrian path between the North and South County Trail and the new Tappan Zee Bridge in Westchester. The application was submitted to New York State officials by the town of Greenburgh, which detailed the proposed path in an announcement on Thursday, Feb. 29. Doggie Paddle: NY Army Veteran Kayaking, Biking 4K Miles Fundraising For Service Dogs
An Army veteran from New York is going the distance - 4,000 miles to be exact - to help his fellow veterans in need of service dogs. Saratoga County native Jimmy Thomas, age 61, of Ballston Spa, is currently kayaking from the town of Glenville all the way to Key West, Florida. He then plans to bicycle back to upstate New York. One Killed In Crash Between Minivan, Bicycle In Hudson Valley
One person was killed in a crash between a minivan and a bicycle in the Hudson Valley. It happened around 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 in Orange County in the town of Minisink. The bicyclist was traveling south on Lower Road approaching the intersection of State Line Road at the time of the crash, state police said. The cyclist failed to stop at the stop sign on Lower Road and struck the front passenger side of a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country was traveling west on State Line Road, according to state police. Deer Hits Bicyclist During Popular Road Race In Area
A woman suffered a broken arm and leg after being hit by a deer while participating in a popular road race in the area. Caroline Lepage, 48, of Quebec, was hit about 10 a.m., Sunday, May 19, while riding her bike northbound during the annual Gran Fondo Race on Route 9W near Boulderberg Road in Tomkins Cove, said Stony Point Police Lt. Daniel Hylas. "The deer ran from her left and struck her broadside on her left side," Hylas said. Bicycle Sundays Are Back In Westchester
April showers bring May flowers. And the return of Bicycle Sundays to Westchester. The Westchester Parks Foundation and Westchester County Parks announced that Bicycle Sundays will begin on Sunday, May 5, when a stretch of the Bronx River Parkway will be closed for cyclists. Each year since 1974, more than 60,000 participants have biked, walked and jogged on a 13.1-mile loop of the parkway from White Plains to Yonkers.
