YONKERS, N.Y. - Eileen M. Downey (nee Gallagher) of Yonkers died Saturday, Dec. 14. She was 85.
Downey was born March 31, 1928, to William and Florence (Flanaghan) Gallagher in Yonkers where she was raised and graduated from Commerce High School. She worked as a secretary for Jacoby-Tarbox for many years. She was a parishioner of St. Paul the Apostle Church, a member of their Leisure Club and a member of St. Mark's seniors.
Downey is survived by her children, Jeanne Petix, Timothy Downey, Elizabeth Shahbazi, Karen Cristiano and Laura Downey; seven grandchildren; and a great grandson. She was predeceased by Florence Tausch, Gerard Gallagher and Marilyn DiMaggio; and her husband, Timothy G.
Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
