Yonkers Honors Sept. 11 Victims On 15th Anniversary

YONKERS, N. Y. -- Dozens of people gathered at the Yonkers Riverfront early Sunday to honor victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, especially the 26 from Yonkers who died that day, News 12 Westchester reported.

The solemn ceremony included bagpipes, flowers and the reading of all of the Yonkers residents killed in the attacks, News 12 Westchester saids.

Kevin Merino, son of EMT worker Yumel Merino, who was killed Sept. 11, spoke of his mother's sacrifice, News 12 Westchester reported. The Yonkers ceremony was one of many throughout the area and the nation to mark the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
