YONKERS, N.Y. -- The City of Yonkers and Daylight Yonkers will host two free art workshops Saturday.
From 10:30 a.m. to noon, Phylisha Villaneuva will present "Spoken Word," a poetry writing workshop that will use the theme the five senses to create powerful spoken work pieces.
From 12:30-2 p.m., Haifa Bint-Kadi will present "Wabi-Sabi from the Hudson River. If you're inspired by broken tiles that wash up on the shores of the Hudson River or driftwood worn smooth by the tides of the river than this is for you. Wabi-sabi takes one's appreciation for the worn, flawed and impermanent objects of nature and transforms them into beautiful works of art to honor the nature surrounding us.
Bring your family -- children and teens welcomed -- to participate in these workshops relating to the river and estuary.
Other workshops are scheduled for every Saturday at Van der Donck Park by the pedestrian bridge until Aug. 31. Go here for a schedule.
