Following the crash - which left the tractor trailer mangled and nearly bent down he middle - cleanup quickly began, with crews clearing debris around exit 22, but county police were still forced to close a stretch of the parkway on Monday afternoon.

Police have been busy diverting traffic since the accident was reported around 12:30 p.m. and the New York State Department of Transportation sent an alert warning motorists that the roadway may not reopen for as many as six hours.

According to county police, as of 3:30 p.m., the tractor-trailer was still on the parkway, blocking southbound lanes.

Making matters worst for Westchester County drivers, a separate crash was reported on the Saw Mill Parkway approximately 15 minutes after the bridge strike, causing stop-and-go traffic on the northbound lanes near exit 16.
