White Plains Woman Charged With Throwing Cat Down Trash Chute A 40-year-old woman who allegedly threw her cat down a 19-story trash chute last year is scheduled to appear in court. Romy Goldsmith Shaprio, of White Plains, is scheduled to face a judge on Tuesday, Jan. 21, for the incident which took place on June 12, 2019. According to the Westchester SPCA, Shaprio allegedly threw her cat named "Cotton" down the chute from the 19th floor. The cat was found by a maintenance worker who heard sounds coming from the garbage chute. The black and white cat was found inside the garbage bat in a pet carrier, still alive.
