2 People Exposed To Rabid Cow In Upstate NY
A rare case of people being exposed to a cow with rabies occurred in a hamlet in upstate New York. It happened late last week in Lee Center, located near the city of Rome in Oneida County. The cow was sent to a New York State Department of Health center for testing and the test results came back positive, the Oneida County Health Department said. Two people were exposed to the cow and have received post-exposure prophylaxis, the department said. New update: A 24-year-old New York woman who was missing for several days has been found. Oneida County resident Madelyn Fiore, age 24, had last been seen leaving her town of Marcy home at around noon Tuesday, Oct. 3. Fiore took off without her cell phone and failed to show up to work or her college classes, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office. A total of six tornadoes have been confirmed in New York State this week, accounting for 40 percent of the twisters in the Eastern US during separate rounds of storms on Monday, Aug. 7 and Tuesday, Aug. 8.
