Father Of Sandy Hook Shooting Victim Found Dead The father of a Sandy Hook victim was found dead in Edmond Town Hall after police responded to a report of an apparent suicide, said Newtown Police. When police arrived on the scene around 7 a.m., Monday, March 25, they found Jeremy Richman, 49, of Newtown, deceased. Richman is the father of Avielle Richman a first-grader killed in the Sandy Hook tragedy in 2012, said Newtown Police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde. Bear Struck, Killed On Merritt Parkway Another black bear has been struck and killed by a vehicle, this time on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich.Greenwich Police confirmed they had received a call regarding the bear on the side of the roadway near Exit 31 and referred the matter to state police. The bear was apparently struck Friday evening, with calls to authorities beginning on Saturday. Last week, a bear was hit and killed by a vehicle on I-84 in Newtown. Bear Struck, Killed On Highway In Area A bear was struck and killed by a vehicle on I-84 in Newtown on Saturday, causing minor injuries to the occupants.  According to Chris Collibee, a spokesman for DEEP,  the department was notified by the state police that the 80-pound untagged bear was hit around 7 p.m. on the westbound side of the roadway. "Bears being struck by vehicles is extremely common with roughly 50 to 60 per year being hit," Collibee said.
