White Plains High School Retiring Sean Kilpatrick's Number

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Sean Kilpatrick, a Yonkers native who graduated from White Plains, is receiving the highest honor from his alma mater.

Kilpatrick, who stars on the Brooklyn Nets, announced on Twitter Sunday the school is retiring his #23 jersey.

"Just received word from Coach Spencer Mayfield that my jersey will be the first jersey ever in White Plains High School history to be retired," Kilpatrick tweeted. "God is so good man."

At White Plains, Kilpatrick averaged 28.4 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, finishing as the second-leading scorer in the school's history. He was a three-time all-state, all-section, all-league, and all-county selection. He later starred at the University of Cincinnati.

The Nets signed Kilpatrick in 2016. Last season on the Nets, Kilpatrick averaged 13.1 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. Last week, the Nets picked up its option on Kilpatrick's contract.

In February, Kilpatrick honored his former English teacher in an on-court ceremony for making a significant impact in his life. The Nets also unveiled a Kilpatrick bobblehead
