White Plains' Franklyn fielding football offers

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Odaine Franklyn began his summer vacation with exciting news. The rising senior and White Plains’ stand-out fullback/linebacker received an offer to attend the University of Akron and play football.  “When I received the call, I didn’t believe it, at first, but it felt really good,” Franklyn said. “It feels really good to have an offer and to know somebody wants you. I hope there are many more to come.” This is only the beginning. Earlier this week, the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Franklyn went on visits to Villanova and the University of Connecticut, according to White Plains’ football coach Skip Stevens. Stevens said that Akron and Villanova are looking at Franklyn, a three-year varsity starter, to play linebacker and UConn wants him at fullback. “This is a testament to Odaine, who we brought up as a sophomore,” said Stevens, in his seventh season as head coach. “Odaine has worked to get himself into great shape and has taken the necessary steps that has brought all the attention to himself. “Odaine is doing things the right way. After he sits down with UConn we will sit down and start mapping out what he is looking for.”
