White Plains Falls in District 20 Softball

ARDSLEY, N.Y. -- Harrison batters showed patience, drawing walks and stealing bases and piling up runs in all but one inning en route to a 17-5 victory over White Plains in a 9-10-year-old District 20 softball playoff game at McDowell Field. Harrison, which has one loss in the double-elimination tournament, advanced to Thursday’s game against Ardsley to be played at Sherman Park in Valhalla.\

White Plains lost its second game and was eliminated from further play. Harrison starting pitcher Tamara Day used her quick delivery and a moving fast ball to keep White Plains off balance, allowing just two hits. Catcher Lindsay McConway helped her pitcher by blocking pitches. “I was better in the early part of the game,” Day said. “I just wanted to throw hard and throw strikes.” Joelle Orzo had a triple for White Plains and teammate Julia LaMark made two sparkling stops at third base
