White Plains Blanks Mount Vernon For First Win

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Tigers’ quarterback Jeff Avery threw two touchdown passes to Khasi Coachman and White Plains earned its first win of the season in a 28-6 victory over host Mount Vernon.

White Plains (1-2), which had several players out of the lineup including starting running back Darrell Everett, kept its slim playoff hopes alive with the win, while Mount Vernon fell to 0-4.

“We had a great week of practice, made some changes on the defense, but I had to sit out this game due to a concussion,” Everett said. “This game was huge because I felt like it helped bring us closer as a team after two tough losses. Now our team knows we can get the job done. We just have to finish out the season strong with key players returning back for Suffern.”

Running back Michael Scottman ran for a touchdown and Adrian Clinton ran 20 yards with an interception for the Tigers’ other scores as the defense stifled the Knights.

White Plains will next host Suffern Thursday at 5 p.m. at White Plains High School.
