When she wasn't excelling in school, Patel spent her time volunteering. She has raised money and awareness for the Human Rights/Global Ambassadors, volunteered in churches, schools and parks for the Key Club and given her time to White Plains Hospital and the library's children's room.
Patel, whose favorite subject was biology, made the National Honor Society with a weighted grade point average of 5.128. She will attend Cornell University in the fall and plans to major in biology.
"The final weeks of high school have been crazy," she said. "Everything has moved really quickly, from AP's to prom, and now I'm trying to relax and enjoy my last few days. High school has been a time where I've made new friends and reunited with old ones. I think the memories that I will take from this time are just the times I've spent with my friends, teachers, and classmates."
White Plains High School's graduation is June 20.
