The email from the governor comes a day after the House of Representatives voted to suspend the Syrian refugee program.
Cuomo also spoke about the issue earlier in the week during a visit to Harvard where he scolded governors across the country who are against letting Syrian refugees into the country, saying they had “politicized” the issues.
At the same time, the governor said he believes the federal government is up to the task of screening refugees, reported nystateofpolitics.com.
Currently, the state has about 40 or so Syrian immigrants given refugee status, reported nystateofpolitics.com.
