In the statement late Monday Cuomo said there will be "zero tolerance for the violation of the public trust in New York," says the report.
Silver was found guilty on seven counts of corruption, including fraud, extortion and money laundering.
The governor had not spoken much about the case since Silver's January arrest, but did push for "a package of anti-corruption, ethics and disclosure measures," since the Silver arrest, says State of Politics, Time Warner Cable News.
