Rev. Edward M Roos, 75, Former White Plains Pastor

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Rev. Edward M. Roos, 75, former Pastor of St. Bernard's Parish in White Plains, died on June 24.

He was born in Mt. Vernon to of Martin J. and Margaret A. (nee Reilly) Roos.

Roos attended St. Mary's College in Kentucky and Dunwoodie Seminary in Yonkers. He was ordained May 28, 1966. He first served the parish of Our Lady of Refuge in the Bronx from 1966 to 1975.

From 1975 to 1983, he served the parish of St. Joseph's in Spring Valley. Roos was the Parochial Vicar of St. John and Paul in Larchmont from 1983 to 1989. In 1989, he was named Pastor of St. Bernard's Church in White Plains where he served until his retirement in 2009.

Roos is survived by his mother, his sister and her husband Margaret and Frank Lavro; his brother Martin Roos and his good friend Janet Murphy; three nephews and one niece.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Matthew, 616 Warburton Avenue in Hastings.
