Tired Uber Driver Hits School Bus In Westchester

An Uber driver who had worked all day and then drove all night fell asleep in stop-and-go traffic and hit a school bus in Northern Westchester, according to the New York State Police.

The incident took place around 7 a.m. Tuesday, on Route 9 just south of Jean Drive in Cortlandt, blocking the southbound lane and backing up traffic.

According to police, the Uber driver fell asleep in the busy stop-and-go morning traffic and drifted into the next lane, hitting the Lakeland school district bus, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

No children were aboard the bus and the driver was not injured.

Traffic was back up and running by 8 a.m.
