Police Investigate BRP Accident Near County Center

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the Bronx River Parkway Tuesday near the walkway to the eastern parking lot of the county center, according to published reports. Police confirmed an investigation into the motor vehicle accident, that occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m., is currently underway.

Yellow police tape stretched north from where the Bronx River Parkway hits Central Ave., blocking the northbound lanes. At least eight Westchester County Police cars and trucks were on scene at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, and detectives were out casing the parkway with flashlights.

The person struck was taken to White Plains Hospital in critical condition, published reports said.

Police officers said they were not able to release further information about the incident.

The northbound lanes of the Bronx River Parkway will remain closed from the Main Street exit to the Cemetery Road exit until approximately 11:00 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
