'Hair' Cast Brings Age Of Aquarius To White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A group of long-haired hippies will take the White Plains Performing Arts Center stage this weekend for a production of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical.

Hair won the 2009 Tony Award for best revival of a musical. It originally debuted on Broadway in 1968 and ran for 1,760 performances. A film adaptation was released in 1979.

The “tribe” is a group of young politically-active Americans fighting conscription into the Vietnam War in their search for peace and love during the 1960s.

Performances are May 3 through 5, and May 10 and 11. Saturday shows start at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows start at 2 p.m.

"Hair" contains strong language and nudity, so parental discretion is advised.

The White Plains Performing Art Center cast includes Keith Antone, Andrew Betz, Austin Colby, Jessica Crilley, Sheira Feuerstein (“Cecily” in the WPPAC’s recent production of The Importance of Being Earnest), Deidra Grace (“Sofia” in WPPAC’s The Color Purple), Katy Hinson, Kristen Jeter, Peter Marinaro, David Melendez, Sharon Pearlman, Kris Roberts, Marc Sully Saint-Fleur, Tiffany Stoker, Greg Sullivan, and Shaina Vencel.

This production is directed by Jeremy Quinn, with choreography by Taavon Gamble and musical direction by Keith Levenson.
