Food Bank for Westchester will be coordinating several different events and activities throughout the county in an effort to expand the capacity of food delivery systems and to serve more people in need, according to Executive Director Ellen Lynch.
One in five residents in Westchester is hungry or at-risk of being hungry; of those almost 200,000 people, one-third are children.
Food Bank for Westchester is one of eight food banks in New York State. It acquires warehouses and distributes more than 7 million pounds of food annually to 230 frontline hunger-relief programs, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, day care and residential programs.
