Dazzling Meteor Shower Will Rain Shooting Stars Over Area Skies

Those who like to stargaze should be in luck, as the peak period of the Geminid meteor shower is expected to fall over the next two days, according to EarthSky.org.

The peak could be anywhere from Sunday night through dawn on Tuesday, and the peak hours are typically from midnight to 2 a.m. anywhere in the world.

At its peak, stargazers could see up to dozens of meteors in the sky, depending on how far away they are from city lights, reported EarthSky.org.

The name is derived from the fact that the meteor shower originates from where the Gemini constellation appears from the sky.
