WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – In the wake of two high-profile shooting incidents at movie theaters, America's largest theater chain will now search bags as patrons enter the theater lobby, according to the Christian Science Monitor.
Regal Cinemas quietly changed their policy in light of recent shootings in Louisiana and Tennessee.
Regal's move is part of a larger push to increase safety measures in light of recent incidents in public places, the Monitor reports.
A recent poll of moviegoers noted that at least 48 percent were willing to pay a premium for increased security.
