Former White Plains Counselor, Goodwin Dies at 102

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Eleanor Goodwin, a resident of White Plains for more than 80 years and a former city employee, died Oct. 6 at the age of 102.

Born in Seneca, S.C. in 1909, she went on to graduate from Clark Atlanta University. Goodwin moved to White Plains in 1930. She worked for the City of White Plains at the Recreation and Parks Department for more than 30 years, leading generations of children onto ball fields and the ice skating rink as a recreation counselor.

Goodwin is survived by her daughter Joan Goodwin, her grandson Drew Goodman with wife Sommer and her great-granddaughter Skylar Goodman.

Services will be held Tuesday at Bethel AME Church in New York City, with viewing at 11 a.m. and services at noon.
