WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The 54th annual White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in Tibbits Park at North Broadway and Main Street.

Proceeds from the festival are to benefit a scholarship program for White Plains High School seniors who intend to study fine arts in college.

This year, the program is providing four students – Miranda Vega, Ashley Sevcik, Jaimie Fernandez and Laura Griffin – with a combined $6,500 in tuition assistance.

The White Plains Outdoor Arts Festival, or WPOAF, is a free event that is to display works from about 60 artists this year, according to a statement from organizers.

Paintings, photography, ceramics, leather work, textiles, jewelry and an assortment of other hand-crafted items are to be available for purchase.

The festival is also expected to feature children’s art activities, an exhibit from this year’s scholarship winners and a display from “emerging artists.”

A food court will be open for meals and a number of donated items from participating artists also will be raffled off, according to the statement.

Organizers of the WPOAF said they intend to donate proceeds from the two-day event to the scholarship program, which has provided more than $175,000 in tuition assistance over the course of the past 40 years.

To learn more about the WPOAF, visit the event’s website. The WPOAF can also be found on Facebook.
