WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The McDonalds classic hamburger currently weighs 4.25 ounces before cooking, an increase of about 6 percent from its namesake weight of 4 ounces, an exact quarter-pound. That weight shrinks to 2.8 ounces after cooking, according to Money Talks News.

The bigger Quarter Pounder comes with increased beef prices it is still unclear whether the Quarter Pounder’s price tag will go up as a result, according to Money Talks News.. CNBC reports that management will have to make that call.

The newly resized burger follows the company’s May announcement of changes following slumping sales, according to Money Talks News..
