Luxury Apartments May Replace White Plains Retail Space

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A proposal to convert vacant retail space into luxury apartments in White Plains could bolster the city's efforts to attract young professionals to  downtown, according to the Westchester County Business Journal.

Willing L. Biddle, president and CEO of Urstadt Biddle Properties Inc., wants to turn the retail space at 60 S. Broadway that was formerly occupied by Borders Books and Toys R Us into as many as 650-700 apartment units, WCBJ reported. 

Biddle's plan would include the demolition of the "obsolete" retail space and would include three or four new buildings on the site, WCBJ said.
