Health Professionals Attend White Plains Job Fair

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Nearly 300 health care professionals registered for the Advance Job Fair and Career Event held Thursday at the Westchester County Center.

The job fair drew recruiters from hospitals, schools and home care agencies, as well as many new graduates, said Marchene Noel of St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. In fact, most of those who attended the job fair were nurses who recently graduated, she said.

“Because of the financial climate it’s harder for nurses to get a job, so this is good because it gives them a chance to see what’s out there,” Noel said.

In addition to the job fair, five hourlong educational sessions were held for registered nurses, who are required to periodically take continuing education sessions. Each session Thursday counted for one credit.

Advance gives its health care community free access to dozens of medical job fairs and virtual job fairs designed to advance careers. Professionals can also attend an online open house or virtual conferences.
