19-Year-Old ATVer Drags Trooper 200 Yards While Fleeing In Region, Police Say A 19-year-old man is accused of injuring a New York State Police trooper in the region while attempting to flee on an ATV. The Rensselaer County incident happened at around 5 p.m. Friday, March 1, in Sand Lake on Johnny Cake Lane. State Police said the trooper stopped Joseph Dominy, of Averill Park, for illegally operating an ATV. Dominy was reportedly uncooperative and attempted to drive away. The trooper became trapped under the vehicle and was dragged approximately 200 yards before getting unstuck. They were taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital for serious but non-life-threatening…

39-Year-Old Killed In 2-Vehicle Crash On Highway In Region A local motorist was killed when he collided with another vehicle on a highway in the region. The Rensselaer County crash happened just before 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in Sand Lake, on Route 150, according to New York State Police. Troopers said Steven Zipkin, age 39, of the town of Nassau, was passing several cars on his motorcycle in the southbound lane when he struck a vehicle entering the roadway. Zipkin suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. Nobody else was injured in the wreck. The incident is under investigation by State Police.
