Emergency crews were called at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 for a collapse at a property in Smithtown, located in the village of Head of the Harbor on Piper Lane. Worker Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle At Long Island Business An investigation is underway after a worker was killed after being struck by a vehicle at a Long Island business. The incident happened just before 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 in Island Park on the lot of 3896 Long Beach Road, Nassau County Police said. The 59-year-old male employee of Nicolia Ready Mix was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.  He was pronounced dead at 7:36 am by a hospital physician.  The investigation is ongoing. Worker Killed In Accident At Suffolk County Business An employee was killed in an accident at a Long Island business. It happened on Friday, Oct. 9 at approximately 4:50 p.m. in Central Islip. Osvaldo Flores-Osguin, age 45, of Brentwood, was repairing a tire on a forklift at T&D Supplies, located at 1599 Ferndale Blvd., when it exploded and struck him, Suffolk County Police said. Flores-Osguin was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified and is investigating.
