Long Island Hit-Run: 21-Year-OId Injured, Police Say Authorities are investigating an early-morning Long Island hit-and-run crash that injured a 21-year-old trying to cross the street. At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, the young victim was attempting to cross Sunrise Highway, walking southbound near Saint Marks Avenue in Bellmore, according to Nassau County Police. Pedestrian Suffers Severe Head Trauma After Being Struck By Car On Long Island A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a car on Long Island. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 in Merrick, Nassau County Police said. According to police, a 2012 Mazda operated by a 43-year-old woman struck a 66-year-old male pedestrian in the vicinity of 2129 Merrick Road as he stepped into the right westbound traffic lane.  The male victim suffered severe head trauma and was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local nearby hospital for treatment. The victim is listed in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.

The victim, reportedly a man, was crossing the highway in Oakdale near Connetquot Avenue just past noon when he was hit. The man's identity has not yet been released. Cop, Slashing Victim Hit By Minivan Outside Farmingdale Hookah Bar Numerous people were injured, including a Nassau County police officer, after a disturbance and slashing outside a popular hookah bar. The incident began around 2:45 a.m., Saturday, April 20, when police were called to a disturbance at the Mystique Gardens Hookah Lounge, 365 Conklin St., said Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun, Nassau County Police spokesman.  When the officers arrived they observed a male victim that had been slashed in his neck.
