Jet Ski Explodes, Injuring Driver's Face On Long Island, Police Say A jet ski driver received injuries to his face after his watercraft exploded in the water on Long Island. The explosion took place in Nassau County around 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15 in Oyster Bay, authorities said. According to officers aboard Nassau County Marine 11, while on patrol in the waterways the crew heard a possible explosion, then saw smoke confirming their suspicions.  The unit navigated toward the smoke and upon arrival, they discovered a jet ski, engulfed in flames and sinking.  The driver was close to shore at the time of the incident and made it on land with only mi…
