A Long Island police officer who was critically injured by an alleged drunk driver will be released from the hospital following a month-long stay. Timothy Thrane of the Suffolk County PD was directing traffic at the intersection of William Floyd Parkway and Yaphank Woods Blvd., on Wednesday, Nov. 3 when a drunk driver struck the rear of a parked GMC Yukon causing that vehicle to strike Thrane. Suffolk County Woman Charged With DWI After Three-Vehicle Hospitalizes Two
A Long Island woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated following a three-vehicle crash that hospitalized two people. Priscilla Torres, age 39, of Brentwood, was driving a 2018 Nissan sedan northbound on County Road 83 in Farmingville as it overpasses South Bicycle Path at approximately 12:45 a.m. Sunday, July 25, Suffolk County Police said. Teen Charged After Man Shot, Killed In Broad Daylight On Suffolk Roadway
A suspect has been apprehended after a man was fatally shot in broad daylight on a busy Long Island roadway. The incident happened Wednesday, March 24 at approximately 3:35 p.m. in Port Jefferson. Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man shot in front of 122 Main Street. Upon arrival, officers found the man, now identified as 25-year-old David Bliss, of Shirley, on the ground with a gunshot wound. A man was apprehended after crashing a stolen vehicle into two police cars while fleeing from officers overnight on Long Island. Christopher Cruz, age 30, stole a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee from the driveway of a Port Jefferson Station residence on Oakland Avenue at approximately 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, Suffolk County Police said. Off-Duty Police Officer Rescues Man In Cardiac Arrest In Suffolk County
An off-duty officer and other responding cops rescued a man who suffered cardiac arrest on Long Island. Off-duty Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officer Michael Mason was walking through Port Jefferson Village with his wife around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 when he observed a 62-year-old man collapse and become unconscious at 200 East Broadway in Port Jefferson.
