State officials in New York are taking steps to protect puppies on Long Island who were being mistreated and illegally sold while sick to unwitting customers. SPCA Seizes Nine Sick Puppies From Outside Long Island Pet Store
Nine sick puppies were seized from a delivery truck outside Shake A Paw pet store in Hicksville by officers with the Nassau SPCA. The seizure was part of an ongoing investigation into a pipeline of sick animals being transported from out of state for sale on Long Island, SPCA officials said.
