School Bus, 2 Cars Collide On Long Island's Southern State Parkway Seven children were on a school bus when it collided with two passenger vehicles on the Southern State Parkway on Long Island, police said. It happened on Thursday, Oct. 26 in Hempstead. Just after 3 p.m., the two cars and the school bus — carrying seven children and one driver — crashed into each other near Exit 19 on the westbound side, according to New York State Police. Long Island School Bus Crash Injures Four Students Four grade-school-age children were transported to an area hospital after a school bus they were riding in hit a wooden pole. The incident took place around 2:45 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, in the area of Alhambra Road and Merrick Road, in Massapequa, said the Nassau County Police. None of the injuries are considered serious, police said. Officers were not sure which school district the bus was from. School Bus Clipped By Vehicle, Hits Long Island Home A small school bus crashed into a Long Island house after another vehicle clipped the bus. The incident took place around 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Nassau County, at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard in Cedarhurst. No students were on board and the driver was not injured, said Nassau County Police. The bus was from the Lawrence School District. The home was deemed safe with no major structural damage, officials said. The crash did cause a short traffic backup during rush hour.
