Expect Delays: Weeks Of Full Closures Scheduled On Long Island Expressway In Brookhaven
Drivers are being warned about weeks of overnight closures scheduled for a portion of the Long Island Expressway. Beginning Sunday, March 26, the westbound lanes of I-495 will be closed nightly at exit 63 (North Ocean Avenue) in the Town of Brookhaven from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the Department of Transportation. The closures, which will allow crews to complete bridge painting and maintenance work, are expected to last for approximately three weeks. Sheriff: Suffolk Woman Who Drove Over Double-Yellow Lines Charged With DWI
A late night Thanksgiving traffic stop of a swerving driver led to the arrest of a woman on Long Island for alleged impaired driving, police said. Islip Terrace resident Jacqueline O’Neill, 30, was stopped by a Suffolk County Sheriff’s deputy shortly before 1 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, when she was spotted crossing the double yellow line on North Ocean Avenue repeatedly in Brookhaven. During the subsequent traffic stop, it was determined that O’Neill “demonstrated clues while performing standardized field sobriety tests indicating she was intoxicated.” O’Neill was arrested and transported …
