Woman Found Dead After House Fire Breaks Out On Long Island A woman was killed and seven others were hospitalized after a fast-moving house fire on Long Island. The blaze began just after 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 23 in Williston Park at Lafayette Street near Herricks Road.  The identity of the woman who was found dead inside of the home has not yet been released. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m., Saturday, March 6, in Mineola, said the Nassau County Police. According to police, a passerby observed heavy smoke coming from a chimney while walking his dog and notified police.  Upon arrival, responding Nassau County three police officers observed an active fire coming from the chimney. Three Rescued From Long Island House Fire By Police Officer Three people were evacuated by a police officer from a home on Long Island after police found heavy smoke coming from the residence. The fire took place at a home in New Hyde Park around 11:55 a.m., Sunday, Jan., 31, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, officers responded to a Flower Lane residence for a house fire.
