Seventy-nine-year-old Ronkonkoma woman Linda Hart was arrested at her home on Tuesday, April 2, according to the Suffolk County Police SPCA. Members of the SPCA and Suffolk County Police searched Hart’s home at about noon that day after receiving a complaint, only to discover that she was keeping 49 animals inside the residence. Suffolk County Auxiliary Police Captain Jamorn Chindananta saw smoke coming from his neighbor's house on Baeck Street in Ronkonkoma at about 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.  SCPD said Chindananta spoke to a resident of the home in the garage, who told him her dogs were still in the house. Husband Kills Wife In Suffolk County Murder-Suicide, Police Say An elderly couple is dead after a murder-suicide on Long Island. It happened around 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County Police said. Valentin Hernandez called 911 at approximately 10:10 a.m. and said he shot his wife in their home, located on Breeze Avenue, according to police. When Fourth Precinct officers arrived, they found both Hernandez, and his wife, Dorothea, with gunshot wounds, after Valentin Hernandez apparently turned the gun on himself after calling 911. The couple, both 90, was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the Lakeland Fire Department.
