Dog, 6 Cats Killed After House Fire Breaks Out On Long Island One dog and six cats were killed after a house fire on Long Island. The blaze broke out around 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25 in Hicksville on Gardner Avenue.  The house was deemed unoccupied and the Hicksville Fire Department along with the Jericho and Westbury Fire Departments responded and extinguished the flames, according to authorities. The Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad said the fire took place around 1:20 a.m., on Thursday, July 2, in Westbury. According to detectives, a female, 27, was in her Madison Street bedroom when she heard glass break and started to smell smoke.  She alerted four other male tenants ages 8, 33, 42, and 51 and all evacuated the residence, police said. Woman Found Dead After House Fire Breaks Out On Long Island A woman was found dead after a house fire broke out on Long Island. It happened just after 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 in Plainview on Audrey Avenue.  After the fire was knocked down, the body of the 65-year-old woman was found in an upstairs bedroom, Nassau County Police said. The Plainview Fire Department, with the assistance of Jericho, Syosset and Bethpage Fire Departments extinguished the fire.  The cause of the fire has yet to be determined but it appears to non-criminal in nature, police said.  The investigation is continuing.
