Alleged IHOP Oil Thief Arrested On Long Island, Police Say A Queens man was nabbed for attempting to steal used cooking oil from two Long Island businesses, authorities said. The Oceanside incident occurred on Wednesday, April 10, according to Nassau County Police. It was just before 3:30 a.m. at the IHOP located at 2971 Long Beach Road when authorities allegedly caught 27-year-old Jahquay Rowe attempting to take the restaurant’s cooking oil. Rowe, who is from Flushing, Queens, reportedly had parked a box truck right next to the eatery’s cooking oil containers and was arrested. Cooking Oil Thefts: Duo Accused After Incidents At 9 Long Island Restaurants Two men have been accused of stealing cooking oil from nine different Long Island restaurants. Nassau County Police officers responded to a report of a larceny of used cooking oil in progress on Friday, April 7.  Prior to arrival, officers observed a 2006 Isuzu white Box Truck matching the description.   Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop.  Two suspects were then placed under arrest: Melvin Howell, age 55, of Brooklyn; Rodney Lofton, age 49, of Queens. The burglary took place around 11 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 at the IHOP located at 1490 Old Country  Road in Riverhead. According to Riverhead Police, an employee at IHOP reported while the business was closed a person broke a side window and entered the business.
