Hate Crime Investigation: Scarecrow Found Hanging By Noose At Senior Center In Suffolk A hate crime investigation is underway after a scarecrow was found hanging by a noose at a Long Island senior center. The Suffolk County Police Department said the incident took place at the North Amityville Senior Center sometime between 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, and about noon on Monday, Oct. 4. The scarecrow was found hanging from a pergola in the rear of the property, located at 48 Cedar Road, police reported. SCPD said anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Hate Crimes Unit detectives at 631-852-6553 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
