Overnight Ramp Closure Planned On Long Island Expressway State officials are advising motorists to prepare for an overnight ramp closure on the Long Island Expressway due to bridge maintenance.  The New York State Department of Transportation said the Exit 38 ramp from the eastbound Long Island Expressway (I-495) to the eastbound Northern State Parkway in the Town of North Hempstead will be closed.  The closure will take place from 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, until 5 a.m. on Friday, June 10, officials said.  A detour will be available at Exit 39 for Glen Cove Road southbound.

A stretch of the Long Island Expressway has reopened after a crash involving an overturned box truck resulted in the two-hour closure of the roadway on Wednesday morning, Dec. 18. The crash happened westbound between Exit 40 (Jericho Turnpike/Route 25) and Exit 39 (Glen Cove Road), with stopped traffic at the scene and gridlock to Exit 43 (South Oyster Bay Road) just before 6 a.m. The right lane reopened around 8 a.m. All lanes reopened around 9 a.m. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.
