Fire Destroys Garage, Vehicles, Damages Long Island Home, Officials Say A Long Island woman and her son were saved from a house fire after neighbors woke them up by ringing their doorbell. The fire took place in Franklin Square around 11 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, on Howard Avenue. Arriving Franklin Square firefighters were met with a large garage fire with multiple vehicles burning, hazardous materials, and a collapse of the garage, the Franklin Square Fire Department said.  Firefighters had the main body of fire quickly knocked down. Four Injured, Including Two Teens, In Long Island House Fire Authorities rescued a group of people from a fire at a Long Island home that injured four people, including two teenagers. At about 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, officers responded to an Elmont home on Marshall Street that was engulfed in flames, according to the Nassau County Police Department.  Upon arrival, three officers and one police medic first rescued an 82-year-old man from the first floor of the home, NCPD said.  Elmont Fire Department then arrived at the scene, and two firefighters rescued a 14-year-old girl from the second floor.  Authorities also rescued a 75-yea…

Three Rescued From Long Island House Fire By Police Officer Three people were evacuated by a police officer from a home on Long Island after police found heavy smoke coming from the residence. The fire took place at a home in New Hyde Park around 11:55 a.m., Sunday, Jan., 31, said the Nassau County Police. According to detectives, officers responded to a Flower Lane residence for a house fire. Upon police arrival, Officer Raymond Pescatore observed heavy smoke emanating from all windows of the home.  Pescatore then entered the home and was able to safely evacuate a man and two women.  There were no injuries reported.  The New Hyde …

First responders were dispatched to Oakley Avenue at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, the Nassau County Police Arson and Bomb Squad reported. Upon arrival, first responders found the house at 146 Oakley fully engulfed, and the fire quickly spread to a neighboring home.
