Brayan Castano, 33, of Elmhurst, Queens, was convicted on Friday, Oct. 22 in a jury trial of seven counts of burglary in the second degree, attempted burglary in the second degree, and possession of burglar’s tools.  Castano was acquitted of one count of burglary in the second degree. Following a nearly two-week trial, Jamik Cannon, age 28, of Hempstead, was convicted by a jury for his role in the fatal shooting of Demetrius Winfield in October 2018. Specifically, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said that Cannon was found guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
